Yuejia Luo
Dr. Yuejia Luo is currently a Chair Professor at Beijing Normal University. He was the Dean of Faculty of Psychology (2020-2022), Director of the National Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning (2005-2013), Beijing Normal University, and the director of the Key Lab of Mental Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2002-2005).
Dr. Luo received his B.Med. and M.Med. degrees from West China University of Medical Sciences and The Third Military Medical University, China, in 1984 and 1990, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Biological Psychology from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997. Dr. Luo focuses his research interesting on the social cognitive neuroscience, and mainly on the neural correlates between emotion and cognition. He established the Chinese Affective Stimulating System which consists of 7 systems; investigated the relationship and neural correlates between emotion and cognitive processing using the latest technology with ERP and fMRI; and found that negative emotional bias could occur in attention, evaluation and preparation for response in multiple time windows, and that the selective property of negative emotion had the impact on the spatial working memory, suggesting that emotional stimulation played a regulatory role on attention for different anxiety status and processing of decision making; Established the classification study paradigm for visual spatial attention and improved constantly, clarified the earlier regulation mechanism in visual search; Pioneered the research on accurately recording of the psychological processing for insight and providing the brain structures involved in this process, represented an essential scientific and practical significance in the field of creative thinking; revealed a two-level process for the formation of the auditory imaginary; explored the neural mechanism of the different and common functional properties between subitizing and counting. He published 8 books and 560 academic articles since 1990, and 276 of them embodied by SCI/SSCI academic journals, 15 provincial and ministerial level technology awards. Dr. Luo received the National Outstanding Young Investigator Award in China in 2003. He was selected as the Top Psychology Scientists in China in 2022 (Research.com).
Dr. Luo is elected president-designate of the Chinese Psychological Society. He is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science (USA). Council memberships at Society for Social Neuroscience (USA), Chinese Neuroscience Society, and Chinese Society of Cognitive Science.
