Yuanhua LinYuanhua Lin


Dr. Yuanhua Lin graduated from Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU) in 1999 and won a Ph. D. degree in Oil Well Construction Engineering. Currently, he is a professor in the State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation, SWPU. He is also the deputy director of the Key Lab for Tubular Goods Engineering of China National Petroleum Corporation, an international standardization expert of the international standardization of Petroleum & Natural Gas Industry and the Standard Committee member of OCTG(Oil Country Tubular Goods).

Dr. Lin was awarded 1 National Award and 17 Ministerial/Provincial Awards for Science and Technology Progress. Also, he won 1 National Award and 6 Provincial Awards for Teaching Achievement. Furthermore, 3 National Technical Honors and 5 Ministerial/Provincial Technical Honors were also awarded to him.

Dr. Lin has published 19 books, 255 Chinese academic articles, and 304 SCI academic articles. Meanwhile, he has been granted 9 software copyrights, 42 utility model patents, 65 Chinese invention patents and 2 international patents(PCT). His number of citation in the WOS data base has reached 6127, and the H-Index is 41.

Dr. Lin is a Chair Professor(Honorary) of 3 Indian Universities and the evaluation expert at the National Center of Science and Technology Evaluation in the Republic of Kazakhstan. He has been invited for different academic presentations at 9 universities in Europe, Australia and Asia, and has attended 33 international academic conferences.

Dr. Lin’s research is mainly focused on the mechanics and corrosion of OCTG, and oil well wellbore integrity. Moreover, he devotes effort to the hydrogen energy transportation and storage, and invented 9 tailor-made test methods and devices applied for material evaluation and selection of hydrogen energy storage and transportation facilities. In the area of the interdisciplinary research between materials and petroleum engineering, he invented 25 tailor-made test methods and devices to evaluate the performance of the OCTG materials and the cement sheath. These techniques well serve the fundamental research in State Key Laboratory and engineering problem tackling in the petroleum industry. The typical research highlights have been applied in the deep/ultra-deep well drilling and production, which covers: the material evaluation and selection for sour gas/oil field production are created and successfully used in the H2S environment; the Sustained Casing Pressure theory has been improved to guide the wellbore integrity management for the gas reservoir with highest pressure in China; the distinctive test method and evaluation index system regarding cement sheath integrity is invented and perfected, with the help of which the mechanical properties of typical cement sheath in gas storage well under cyclic load and temperature were illustrated to strongly support the wellbore integrity design and management of gas storage well; development the Non-API standard drillpipe and matched downhole damping tools could protect the downhole drillstring and rapidly decrease the failure of downhole drillstring in the deepest drilling area of China.
