Yonghou Zhao

Yonghou Zhao is a chief physician, doctoral supervisor and postdoctoral cooperative supervisor.From September 1988 to May 2004, he worked in the Mental Health Research Center of Heilongjiang Province. He was engaged in the clinical treatment of mental disorders with traditional Chinese medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and the evaluation of clinical treatment techniques.During the period, he studied in Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in September 1996, and obtained a medical master's degree. In January 2000, he started teaching as an academic successor of the national old Chinese medicine experts in the field of bone injury of traditional Chinese medicine.In September 2002, he studied acupuncture-moxibustion and Tuina science in Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, and obtained his Doctor's degree in June 2005. In September of the same year, he entered the clinical postdoctoral research station of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in Fudan University to carry out interdisciplinary research on integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine neurology, and completed his postdoctoral research work in December 2008.In June 2004, he joined Heilongjiang Mental Hospital and devoted himself to the intervention of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the prevention and treatment of mental health. He established the first discipline of TCM psychiatry in China, engaged in the clinical work, scientific research and teaching of TCM mental diseases, and devoted himself to the discipline construction, professional and career development of TCM psychiatry.

Now he is the guidance teacher of the academic experience inheritance of national veteran TCM experts, the young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions to the health system of Heilongjiang Province, the famous TCM Doctor of Heilongjiang Province, the first "Famous Doctor of Longjiang Province", and the expert of the construction project of the national famous and veteran TCM experts Inheritance Studio. He enjoys the special allowance of the national government and is the founder of the national TCM psychiatry.

He is currently the leader of the National TCM Key Specialty (Psychiatry) collaboration group, the leader of the key discipline and the director of the key research Office of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.He is also a member of the board of directors of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the board of directors of the Chinese Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the chairman of the Psychiatric Branch of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the chairman of the Professional Committee of Mental Disorders of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the chairman of the Professional Committee of Mental Disorders of the Chinese Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and the member of the National Technical Committee of Standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SAC/TC478).

He has published 99 paper, 12 books, obtained 4 invention patents, developed 19 kinds of innovative TCM preparations, drafted and formulated 1 national standard, 29 TCM industry standards, and 1 international TCM clinical practice guideline, filling the gaps in related fields at home and abroad.

Grounded in clinical practice, serving the front line

He has been engaged in the front-line clinical practice for 37 years. He likes to refer to and learn from western medical theory and technology on the basis of TCM theory, pays attention to diagnosis and syndrome differentiation, and is good at using traditional Chinese medicine (integrated Chinese and Western medicine) therapy to treat difficult mental and psychological diseases.Based on the special characteristics of mental diseases, this paper puts forward the differential treatment thinking of "zang-fu-qi-blood-brain spirit" and "meridian-brain spirit" for mental diseases, which provides a differentiation idea for the complex clinical zang-fu syndrome differentiation relationship and a theoretical basis for the role of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of mental diseases.Focusing on refer to and learn from western medical theory and technology on the basis of TCM theory, diagnosis and syndrome differentiation, the TCM diagnosis and treatment model of "course classification and syndrome staging" for mental and psychological diseases was innovated. The treatment idea of "abnormal mental symptoms as the core, body and spirit as well" was advocated. The treatment concept of "hybrid treatment" and "urgent treatment of the root cause" were adopted, and the holistic treatment with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics was constructed around the treatment principle of "regulating the mind, awakening the brain and opening the orifices". It plays a significant therapeutic advantage on the refractory symptoms such as hallucination, auditory hallucination, cognitive impairment, affective disorder, and hallucination of madness (schizophrenia), depression (depression), insomnia (insomnia), dysphoria (anxiety) and other diseases.

He takes responsibility and is the leader of the National Demonstration Center for the Prevention and Treatment of major and difficult diseases with Traditional Chinese Medicine (schizophrenia), the leader of the national Pilot for the comprehensive standardization of social management and public services, and a member of the expert guidance group for the full participation of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

Established the first new discipline of TCM psychiatry in China, and created a precedent for the professional development of TCM psychiatry

He was the founder of TCM psychiatry, who broke the current situation that mental disorders were completely dependent on the diagnosis and treatment system of western medicine. He inherited and innovated the theoretical system of TCM mental disorders, constructed the academic system of TCM intervention for mental disorders, created a new discipline of TCM psychiatry, and opened up a new way of TCM prevention and treatment of mental disorders.He established the first key research Laboratory of Mental Disorders under the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the first national academic organization, the Mental Disorders Branch of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Mental Disorders Professional Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Academically, he innovatively put forward the "body-use theory" theory of mental disorders, inherited and innovated the first systematic construction of the theoretical system of psychiatry, and laid the core theoretical foundation of TCM psychiatry in China.The landmark achievements were made in the aspects of theoretical innovation, syndrome elements, key technologies, action targets, advantage approaches and evidence-based diagnosis and treatment strategies of schizophrenia, which revealed the connotation and advantages of the theory of TCM differentiation and treatment

Academic innovation and industry impacts

He is the leader of the National TCM Key Specialty (Psychiatry) collaboration group, the leader of the key discipline of TCM Mental disorders and the director of the key research laboratory of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the member of the national general guidance Group of experts for the formulation and revision of National TCM Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines and Standards. He is the review expert of National Natural Science Foundation of China and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Expert of science and technology Award of China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, expert of key special evaluation of "Traditional Chinese Medicine Modernization Research" of Ministry of Science and Technology.

He is the director of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Chinese Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the chairman of the Psychiatric Branch of the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the chairman of the Professional Committee of Mental Disorders of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine, the chairman of the Professional Committee of Mental Disorders of the Chinese Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and the member of the National Technical Committee of Standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Based on the needs of the modernization of the discipline of TCM mental disorders, the standardization and normalization of clinical diagnosis and treatment were carried out, 29 standards of industry groups and 1 international TCM clinical practice guideline were formulated and drafted to fill the gaps in related fields at home and abroad.

Based on the clinical differentiation and treatment rules of the first attack and recurrent diseases, the clinical diagnosis and treatment plan was researched for the first time, and three diagnosis and treatment plans for the first attack and recurrent diseases of the national key specialty of TCM were formulated, effectively improving the advantages of TCM prevention and treatment.

Based on the large shortage of professional and technical talents in mental disorders, which could not meet the demand of medical resources of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the higher education teaching system of TCM mental disorders was constructed. As the chief editor (part of the chief editor and the chief review), the author led the compilation of 10 series of textbooks for TCM mental disorders in higher education of TCM industry in China.
