Yongdong Jin

Dr. Yongdong Jin is currently a Distinguished Professor at School of Biomedical Engineering, Medical School of Shenzhen University, China. He served as Professor of “ 100 talent program” of CAS at the State Key Laboratory of Electroanalytical Chemistry, Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China, during 2010-2023. Dr. Jin joined Shenzhen University in August 2023 as a Distinguished University Professor.

Dr. Jin received his B.Eng. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University of Technology, China, in 1993, and his Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of CAS), China, in 2004. His profile has been featured as one of top 50 excellent doctoral theses of CAS in 2005, and nationwide top 100 excellent doctoral theses in 2006 by Ministry of Education of China. Dr. Jin did his postdoctoral work at the Department of Organic Chemistry and Department of Materials and Interfaces of Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel in 2004-2006, at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of UCLA in 2006-2007, and at Department of Bioengineering of the University of Washington, Seattle in 2007-2010. He served as Feinberg Visiting Professor at Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, in Sept.-Nov. 2013; Dr. Jin’s current research interests include plasmonic nanostructures (especially for sensing, catalysis, and plasmon-enabled nanoelectronics), bio/nano interfaces and nanomedicine, nanopore-based analytics, and electrostimulation for cancer treatment. He has recently revealed experimentally the plasmon-mediated/-enabled long-range electron tunneling regime (P-tunneling), and invented first electrochemical method for cancer therapy (H2-ECT) based on hydrogen generation in tumor by using acupuncture electrodes. Dr. Jin has authored more than 145 papers in international journals, including Nat. Nanotechnol., Nat. Commun., PNAS, JACS, Adv. Mater., Adv. Sci., ACS Nano, Natl. Sci. Rev., iScience and Anal. Chem., etc, with citation more than 6200 times and h-index of 42. In addition, he has edited/authored 2 book chapters. Currently, he is serving as an Editorial Board Member (Topic Editor) of Nanomaterials (MDPI), and Committee Member of Vebleo; Co-chaired IAAM webcongress on nanomaterials and nanotechnology during 08-09 Feb. 2021; and served as Co-chair and member of scientific committee european section of the advanced materials congress (EAMC) for 2021-2022; and has presented several plenary and keynote speeches at international conferences around the world.

Dr. Jin is a Fellow of International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM, Sweden), Fellow of Vebleo, and elected Full Member in Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, USA.
