Scientific contributions and representative publications

For the rapidly evolving field of hierarchical materials, as a pioneer, significant contributions have been made. We have discovered a cell-like confinement effect in hierarchical catalysts and developed the bio-inspiring methods to spatial attribution of active sites in hierarchical materials (Adv. Mater., 18, 410, 2006; Adv. Mater., 18, 2117, 2006; Adv. Mater., 21, 1368, 2009), proposed a model of hierarchical catalysts with hierarchical 3D micro-meso-macroporous structures and developed an interfacial nanofusion method for great stability improvement (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 50, 11156, 2011; Chem. Commun., 47, 2763, 2011; Energy Environ. Sci., 5, 5540, 2012), created the knowledge system of synthesis and application of hierarchical materials (Wiley-VCH, Book, ISBN 978-3-527-32788-1, 2012; Chem. Soc. Rev., 45, 3479, 2016; Chem. Soc. Rev., 46, 481, 2017). During most recent 5 years, we have made a series of contributions on the oriented design and precise control of the hierarchical materials for bio-inspiring catalysis, including Hierarchical catalysis (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 58, 12340, 2019; Adv. Mater., 31, 1904969, 2019; Adv. Funct. Mater., 31, 2102868, 2021), Directional photo/electro catalysis (Adv. Mater., 30, 1802173, 2018; Nano. Lett., 20, 3122, 2020; Nano Lett., 21, 7870, 2021; Mater, 2022) and Artificial cell catalysis (ACS Nano, 13, 14459, 2019; Chem, 8, 1551, 2022; Trends Biotechnol., DOI: 0.1016/j.tibtech.2022.01.012, 2022; Natl.
