Professor Wang Gongwen holds a Bachelor's degree in Mineral Survey and Exploration, a Master's degree in Mineralogy, Petrology, and Mineral Deposits, as well as a Ph.D. in Earth Exploration and Information Technology. He has served as a visiting scholar at the University of Alberta, James Cook University, and the University of Houston. Currently, he holds the positions of Vice Dean and Professor at China University of Geosciences (Beijing), and concurrently serves as the UNESCO Chair on "Deep-Time Digital Earth and Mineral Resources," Director of the National Virtual Simulation Committee for "Geological Disciplines," among other roles.

Professor Wang Gongwen's major achievements and contributions are outlined as follows:

In the field of geoscience software development, Professor Wang has developed six Geo-Earth three-dimensional geological software, among which GeoCube3.0, GeoSIM1.0, and GeoPro have reached the international cutting-edge level, obtaining three international invention patents. These software applications have been widely used in projects such as the three-dimensional modeling and demonstration projects of mineralization areas by the China Geological Survey, as well as national key research and development projects, earning a good reputation both domestically and internationally.

In the area of intelligent mining, Professor Wang has successfully completed multiple intelligent mining projects, including one second prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Land and Resources, two first prizes and two second prizes from the China Gold Association. He has also led the research tasks for the "3000m" transparency and deep-seated target optimization in mineralization areas of national key research and development projects, achieving significant results.

Regarding academic cooperation and international exchanges, Professor Wang has established long-term and stable international cooperation relationships with Professor Clayton Deutsch from the University of Alberta, Canada, and Professor John Carranza from the University of South Africa, promoting academic exchanges and cooperation in fields such as mathematical earth sciences and advanced geological statistics.

In terms of education and training, Professor Wang has been responsible for creating research directions for "Digital Mines, Intelligent Mines, and Smart Mines," and has completed the establishment of three national-level practical bases, training 40 master's students, 7 doctoral students, and 2 postdoctoral fellows.

In the construction of scientific research platforms, relying on the key laboratories of the unit and the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, Professor Wang has built a complete set of scientific research platforms including high-performance heterogeneous cluster parallel computing and geoscience software platforms, providing strong technical support and data support for scientific research in the field of earth sciences.

In terms of publishing papers, books, and patent applications, Professor Wang has published 26 SCI papers as the first author or corresponding author, authored 3 monographs, and ranked first in 5 software copyrights and filed 6 patent applications.
