Prof. Liu Zhimeng, male, born in 1958 in Guangxi, China, PhD, is a Level-2 Professor, Polymer Chemist, and Expert in Cleaner Production Technology. He has earned the following tiltle: Expert with Special Government Allowances from the State Council, National Excellent Teacher Award, recipients of the National Labor Medal, and World Science and Technology Development Achievement Award, Top Professional and Technical Talents in Dongguan City, Head of of Dongguan Municipal Environmental Friendly Functional Materials Technology Innovation Team, and recipient of the Lifetime Honorary Title of Dongguan City Excellent Science and Technology Worker.

For many years, Prof. Liu has been conducted comprehensive and systematic research on the problem of high-value modification and utilization of natural products such as rosin. The newly developed rosin modification and synthesis technology for a new type of polymer monomer ternary acid (maleic acid) has laid the foundation for the industrial production of maleic acid in China, achieving breakthroughs in large-scale production technology and bringing revolutionary changes to rosin chemical modification and utilization production technology. The research achievement of maleic acid glycidyl ester and its preparation method has won the Chinese invention patent, the Silver Award at the 16th National Invention Exhibition, the Third Prize of Guangdong Province Science and Technology Award, and the First Prize of Dongguan City Science and Technology Progress Award. The GMP-I type epoxy resin prepared using maleic acid has obtained the National Key New Product Certificate. This achievement makes the research and production technology of high-value modification and utilization of rosin at the world's leading level.

Prof. Liu is currently a Senior Consultant at the Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutralization Research Center of Dongguan New Energy Research Institute, and also serves as the Director of the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center of Key Materials for High Performance Copper Clad Laminates, and Director of the Sub Center of Dongguan University of Technology(DGUT) of National Engineering Research Center of Electronic Circuits Base Materials, Director of Dongguan Municipal Key Laboratory of Functional Polymer Materials. Formerly served as the Deputy Director of the Institute of Science and Technology of DGUT, Deputy Director of the Department of Applied Chemistry of DGUT, Director of the Research Department of DGUT, Director of the Dongguan Municipal Cleaner Production Technology Center, Director of the the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center of Chemical Materials and Cleaner Production Engineering Technology and other positions. He has successively served as a member of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), the Council Member of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (CSES), the Council Member of the China Industrial Energy Conservation and Cleaner Production Association (CIECCP), the Vice President of the Guangdong Provincial Cleaner Production Association (GDCPA), and the Chairman of the Dongguan Municipal Chemical Industry Society (DGCIS). Experts in Major Science and Technology Projects, Science and Technology Awards, and Natural Fund Evaluations in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangxi, and other provinces.

Prof. Liu has hosted and completed more than 23 National, Provincial, and Municipal scientific research projects, 1 Key Breakthrough Project in Key Areas of Guangdong and Hongkong, and participated in the completion of one EU-Asia-Pro-Eco project, a three party international cooperation between China, Italy, and Sweden, involves the design and feasibility study of integrated ecolo-gical industrial scheme for low energy consumption factory and residential areas, and successively obtained 20 Chinese invention patents and 1 American invention patent. Received 3 Guangdong Province Science and Technology Awards, 4 Dongguan City Science and Technology Progress Awards, and 2 Silver Awards at the 16th National Invention Exhibition. One National Key New Product Certificate and one Guangdong Province Key New Product Certificate each. Published over 95 scientific research papers. The co authored works "Natural Product Chemistry and Applications" and "Road Coatings and Painting Technology" were published by Beijing Chemical Industry Press. Creating direct economic benefits of RMB 557 million for enterprises to implement cleaner production audit services. Prof. Liu has made outstanding contributions to research on new materials, cleaner production and low-carbon technology for China and the world.
