Liu YuningLiu Yuning


Professor Liu Yuning, male, chief physician, doctoral supervisor, postdoctoral co-supervisor, leading talent at Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and academic leader in nephrology. He is also the deputy director of the Beijing Consultation Center of Chinese and Western Medicine for Complicated Kidney Disease and an outstanding consultation expert. Engaged in traditional Chinese medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for 40 years in the treatment, teaching, and research of kidney disease, Professor Liu has conducted in-depth research on various challenging renal diseases. He has particularly unique insights into membranous nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy, and the diagnosis and treatment of chronic renal failure. He has proposed a series of new ideas and methods for treating kidney diseases. This includes the concept of pathogenesis caused by lurking pathogens, differentiating and treating kidney diseases based on collateral diseases, establishing a Sanjiao syndrome differentiation framework, advocating the use of insect and vine medications, innovatively applying contraction-dispersion methods to treat proteinuria, breaking-the-balance method to treat chronic prolonged kidney disease, intercepting method to treat rapidly progressing kidney disease, tonifying kidney and promoting collateral circulation to treat chronic kidney failure, promoting discharge and eliminating to treat membranous nephropathy, detoxification and clearing collateral to treat IgA nephropathy, and treating diabetic nephropathy based on the "Three States of Renal Collaterals". He has also selected and created several outstanding traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions, including Jinchan Yishen Tongluo Fang, Shuli Fenxiao Fang, Jiedu Qingluo Fang, and Yiqi Tongluo Xiaozheng Fang. Professor Liu has been honored with a Second Prize and a Third Prize for Technological Progress in Henan Province, 2 Second Prizes for Technological Progress in Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Province (both ranking third), a Third Prize for Medical and Technological Progress in Shanghai and a Second Prize for Technological Achievements from the China Association of Chinese Medicine (both ranking second). He has also received a Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Achievements from the Chinese Medical Association (ranking fifth). He has undertaken 18 national and provincial- and municipal-level research projects, held eight major academic positions in the field of kidney diseases, published over 250 academic papers, with 26 of them indexed in SCI. He has served as the chief editor of three monographs, co-editor of four monographs, editorial board member for 12 monographs, and has led and participated in the formulation of four kidney disease-related diagnostic and treatment norms, technical standards, and operation guidelines.
