Junfeng Yao

Dr.Junfeng Yao is currently a professor in School of Informatics,School of Film and Artificail Intelligence Institute in Xiamen Univeristy. From January 2004 to present, he has been working at the School of Software at Xiamen University. He was appointed as a professor in August 2011. He was the head of the Department of Digital Media Engineering at the School of Software. From July 2019 to July 2021, He was appointed as the Vice Dean of the School of Informatics. From July 2021 till now, He has been appointed as the Vice Dean of the School of Film. He is also the vice Chair of the Key Laboratory of Digital Protection and Intelligent Processing of Fujian Taiwan Intangible Cultural Heritage, Culture and Tourism of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He is the outstanding member of the China Computer Federation.

Dr.Junfeng Yao was born in February 1973 from Daixian County, Shanxi Province. He received his bachelor's degree, master's degree, and doctoral degree from Central South University on July 1995, April 1998 and August 2001 repectively. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Tsinghua University from September 2001 to December 2003.Dr. Yao's current research interests mainly include Social Robot, Digital Twin Technology and Computer Graphics. He served as associate editoror and editorial board member for 10 journals including The VISUAL Computer and METAVERSE etc. He was a visiting scholar at UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON in the United States from October 2016 to October 2017; He was Selected for the "Fujian Province Higher Education New Century Excellent Talent Plan" in 2006. In September 2014, he was selected as a special expert by the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese, and in 2015, he was selected as a member of the fourth batch of high-level talent programs in Fujian Province. He has presided over and participated in a total of 93 projects at all levels, including the Ministry of Education, National Development and Reform Commission, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Science and Technology Support Program, Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Fujian Provincial Economic and Trade Commission, and Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission. 35 national invention patents were granted and 59 invention patents were accepted. He published over 200 academic papers. 10 academic works were completed by him. He got one first prize and one third prize of the National Industry Association Science and Technology Progress Award, and one second prize and one third prize of the Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. In total, He got over 20 awards at home and abroad.

He is the member of the Scientific Committee of the Xiamen Branch of the UNESCO International Center for Space Technology for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST), Asian Graphics Society, IEEE and ACM,Chinese Society of Image Graphics.
