Dr. Jinliang YUAN is currently the deputy director of the Academic Committee of Ningbo University in China, who holds a position as the chair professor and a doctoral supervisor. He was awarded his BSc and MSc degrees in China in 1985 and 1988, respectively, and further worked as a lecture and associate professor at Dalian Maritime University for several years, before he obtained his PhD degree in 2023 at Lund University in Sweden. Dr. YUAN was further promoted as a full-time professor at Lund University in 2011, while he joined Ningbo University as the founding director for the Ningbo Ship New Energy Innovation Team in 2016.

He has been engaged in research topics focusing on thermomechanical issues related to the field of new energy and energy storage technology for over 30 years, and electrode/electrolyte materials and fabrication methods have been developed and applied for designing batteries and fuel cells/electrolysis cells, as well as optimization methods identified for the stacks and modules based on the stress-strain relationships. The multi-scale modeling and simulation framework have been developed for the flow-thermal-mechanical-electrical coupling issues for achieving the efficient system integration and energy management strategy. He has successively earned and completed several national/international research projects funded by the Swedish/Chinese research agencies, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Key R&D Program of Hydrogen Energy by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, as well as the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant by the European Union, etc. A comprehensive list of his publications includes well-known journal articles appeared in Int. J. Mech. Sci., Angewandte Chemie, Adv. Energ. Mater. and Appl. Energ., etc., which is expanded to cover 250 scientific research papers including 10+ ESI highly cited and hot papers, as well as 2 monographs and co-authored 2 books. More than 20 Chinese/international invention patents and computer software copyrights have been granted to Dr. Yuan, some of them have been applied in the industries. He was consecutively selected into the list of "Lifetime Scientific Influence Ranking" of the global top 2% scientists from 2021 to 2023, which is jointly identified by Elsevier and Stanford University.

Dr. Yuan has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (FIMarEST in UK), as a member in the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education (in China), the deputy chair in the Ship Electromechanical Committee of the China Institute of Navigation, as well as the editorial member for several SCI-indexed scientific journals. He has extensively worked as an external evaluation/review expert of the research projects/programs for various funding agencies, such as the Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong Scientific Research Foundation in China.
