Huang Heyan

Huang Heyan, female, from Youxian, Hunan Province, was born in October 1963. She is currently a Distinguished Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the School of Computer Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology. She graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Technology from Wuhan Institute of Surveying and Mapping in 1983, obtained a Master of Engineering degree in Software from the National University of Defense Technology in 1986, and earned a Doctor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Technology from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1989. After completing her doctorate, she remained at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, serving in various technical positions such as Assistant Researcher, Associate Researcher, and Researcher; from 1997 to 2008, she was a Researcher at the Research Center for Computer and Language Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where she held positions as Deputy Director and Director; from 2009 to 2020, she served as the Dean and Professor of the School of Computer Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology; since 2018, she has been a Distinguished Professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology and the Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute at Beijing Institute of Technology. She currently holds multiple positions including member of the Expert Committee for the Top-notch Student Training Program 2.0 of the Ministry of Education, Vice Chairman of the Computer Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Executive Vice Chairman of the New Engineering Research and Practice Project on Information Technology Industry-Education-Research Alliance, expert of the National Artificial Intelligence Standardization Expert Advisory Group under the National Standardization Management Committee, Executive Director and Fellow of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Executive Director of the China Electronics Society, Chairman and Fellow of the Chinese Information Society, Director of the Beijing Research Center for Massive Language Information Processing and Cloud Computing Application Engineering Technology, and Director of the Key Laboratory of Information Intelligent Processing and Content Security under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. She has led more than 30 provincial and ministerial-level projects, such as the National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Key Technology Support Program, the 973 Program, the National Key R&D Program, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Industrial Internet Innovation and Development Project, and the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Plan. She has received more than 10 scientific research awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress First Prize and Second Prize, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Science and Technology Progress First Prize and Second Prize, the Beijing Science and Technology First Prize and Second Prize, and the China Electronics Society First Prize. She has published over 200 high-level academic papers, authored 8 monographs, and holds more than 50 authorized invention patents. In 1997, she received a special government allowance from the State Council, in 2014, she was honored with the title of National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker, and in 2021, she received the Ministry of Education-Huawei "Intelligent Base" Outstanding Teacher Award. She has guided three Ph.D. students who have received the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and the Chinese Information Society, and one high school student from Beijing who has received the National Little Academician Invention Special Prize.
