Gao Yi, male, Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University, Professor (Level II), Ph.D. supervisor, currently PI of the National Key Laboratory of Organ Failure Prevention and Control, Executive Director of the Translational Medicine Center of Southern Medical University Zhujiang Hospital, Director of the Guangdong Engineering Research Center of Artificial Organs and Tissues Engineering Technology, and Director of the Guangzhou Clinical Research and Translation Center of Artificial Liver. He is selected as a provincial-level candidate for the Thousand-Hundred-Ten Project of Colleges and Universities in Guangdong Province, a leader in medical science in Guangdong Province, a research-oriented talent in China, and a winner of the first prize of the Guangdong Science and Technology Award and the "Specialist Award" of Glory Doctors. He is the chief expert of the China 863 program for bioartificial liver, an expert reviewer of national key R&D program projects, and an expert reviewer of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Guangdong Foundation.

As a clinical expert, he has been engaged in hepatobiliary surgery for more than 30 years, has rich clinical experience in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery diseases, has mastered various advanced diagnosis and treatment methods in hepatobiliary surgery from minimally invasive techniques to liver transplantation, and has successfully treated numerous patients and patients with refractory diseases.

In the research field, aiming at the clinical critical disease of liver failure, he has carried out innovative research on the "combination type bioartificial liver system" domestically and internationally, and has constructed the world's first combination type bioartificial liver functional support system in vitro. He has mastered multiple core technologies and achievements in the fields of artificial organs, cells, biomaterials, cell functional unit construction, and system construction. In the field of artificial livers, he has established the National Artificial Liver and Blood Purification Technology Demonstration Center, provincial engineering centers, and municipal clinical research centers. He has obtained multiple scientific research project grants including the national key R&D program and national 863 program. From 2014 to date, he has published more than 100 SCI-indexed papers (with a single impact factor of 30.849), authorized 1 US patent, and 32 national patents, of which 10 national patents have obtained implementation and use transfer rights. He has won the first prize of Guangdong Provincial Technical Invention Award, the second prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and the third prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
