Gang Xiong

Prof. Gang Xiong received Ph.D. degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, then worked as Post doctor and Associate Scientist for Zhejiang University, as Senior Research Fellow for Tampere University of Technology and Academy of Finland, IEEE Senior member, Specialist and Project Manager for Nokia Finland, Senior Consultant and Team Leader for Accenture and Chevron in USA. In 2008, he worked as Deputy Director for Chinese Academy of Science (CAS). In 2009, he started his present position as Research Professor for CAS’s Institute of Automation, and then worked as Deputy Director for Beijing Engineering Research Center of Intelligent Systems and Technology, Deputy Director of CAS’s Cloud Computing Center, Director for CAA’s 3D Printing and Social Manufacturing Committee, FinDiPro Professor for Aalto University in Finland, CCF’s Distinguished Member, CRS’s Smart Railway Committee Member, Minjiang Scholar Chair Professor for Fujian Province. He has served as an evaluation expert of S&T projects such as European Union, Israel, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese MOST, Chinese MIIT, and Chinese several provinces like Guangdong etc. He has served as Editorial board member or reviewer of more than 20 academic Journals and 10 International Conferences. He has won more than 10 S&T awards, like CAA’s Grand Prize, S&T Progress Second Prize Award from MOE, and Innovation and Promotion Award of CIUR.

Prof. Gang Xiong focuses on scientific and technological innovation and the application of intelligent control and management of complex systems, he has accumulated more than 30 years of work experience in research and project management, including 15 years in Europe (Finland) and 15 years in CAS. In the "parallel systems" research area, which is similar to digital twins, his academic impact ranks TOP2 in the world. He has successfully finished more than 50 academic or technical projects funded by Finnish TEKES, Academy of Finland, Chinese NSFC/MOST, CAS, Guangdong S&T etc. He has led more than 10 new systems and new equipment development, authorized 6 International patents with PCT, more than 80 Chinese patents and more than 70 software copyrights. The research achievements of parallel systems have reached international advanced level, and then won CAA's Grand Prize. He is the author or co-author of about 400 refereed academic Journal and Conference papers, including 70 SCI papers, and 300 EI papers. Google Citations 4984, h-index 32, i10-index 140. SCI Citations 1886, H-Index 20. His 5 papers were selected as the Best Paper by IEEE Conferences. He is editor or co-editor of 3 academic books, the author of 10 Book chapters. He has trained more than 50 Ph.D., Master students and interns.
