Dr. Fudi Wang's research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of by which iron, zinc, manganese, and nutrition metabolism contribute to ferroptosis in human health and disease. Dr. Wang is a globle well-recognized physician-scientist in the field of trace elements. To date, Dr. Wang has published more than 200 articles (citation >16000, H-index is 67, impact factor>2300) in many prestigious journals. Dr. Wang holds 16 patents and is the chief editor for 4 BioMetal related monographs. Over three decades, Dr. Wang has become a leader in his field, including (1) the molecular mechanisms of iron homeostasis with his discoveries leading to renewed interest in iron as both a therapeutic agent and target; (2) ferroptosis as a target for diverse diseases, including novel strategies for the treatment of cardiovascular, liver and kidney diseases; and (3) regulatory networks of zinc homeostasis. The last has set up a strong theoretical foundation for the development of novel preventive and therapeutic strategies for highly prevalent diseases, such as diabetes and anemia.
