Prof. Dai Huichao is the chief senior engineer of the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTCGC), a scientific and technological leader in the field of water conservancy and hydropower engineering, a recipient of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, a Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholars Award Program, a national candidate of the Project of One Hundred and Thousand Millions of Talents in the New Century, a candidate of the State Council Government Allowance, and an awardee of the Youth Award of Guanghua Engineering He has been awarded the Guanghua Engineering Award for Science and Technology and the China Youth Science and Technology Award. He has rich engineering experience and participated in the construction and operation of five giant terraced hydropower stations among the top 10 hydropower stations in the world, namely, Three Gorges, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Udonde and Baihetan. He has been authorized 123 invention patents (65 for the first inventor), 9 international patents, published 10 monographs, 51 SCI papers and 131 EI papers, solved the difficult problems in the cross-disciplines of water resources, water environment and water ecology in water conservancy and hydropower engineering, and was awarded the Youth Prize of Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Youth Science and Technology Award, 1 special prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress, 3 second prizes (one of which is the second prize) of the National Scientific and Technological Progress The company has been honored with 1 National Scientific and Technological Progress Grand Prize, 3 National Scientific and Technological Progress Second Prizes (1 ranked 1st), and 11 provincial and ministerial special and first prizes (8 ranked 1st and 3 ranked 2nd).

Prof. Dai Huichao invented the key technology of multi-dimensional regulation and control of the ecological environment of hydropower projects with multi-temporal and spatial scales, multi-level and multi-objectives, and original results with independent intellectual property rights have been obtained. The key technology has solved the problems of water security in the watershed, such as eutrophication of reservoirs and water bloom under the influence of hydropower projects, changes in the ecological environment of lakes and estuaries of the Tongjiang River and the dangers of stressing the habitats of important aquatic organisms, and has improved the reliability of the intelligent regulation and control of the ecological environment of hydropower stations and the level of automatic control. The project has significantly improved the reliability and automatic control level of ecological environment intelligent regulation and control of hydropower station group, which is of great technical value for the protection of the Yangtze River.

Prof. Dai Huichao established the theoretical method of fine simulation of water flow in water conservancy and hydropower projects, and put forward several sets of mathematical models, such as high dam flood dissipation and high turbulence complex free surface three-dimensional complex boundary, two-phase flow of water and gas, and full flow channel of hydropower station, etc., which provide modern means for solving the hydrodynamics problems of water conservancy and hydropower projects, especially high dam flood dissipation and dissipation, optimization of hydraulic turbine design, and guiding and intercepting of construction and scientific construction of the project. He was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award as the first one to complete the project.
