Cliff Yi Guo
Cliff Guo, is a scientist at National institute of clean-and-low-carbon Energy(NICE) of China Energy Group. As one of the founding members, he and five other world renowned experts together helped Shenhua Group to estabalish NICE in 2009 and make it grow to a leading clean energy research institute in energy industry. At NICE, he built Equipment Research Center in 2009, Coal Refining Research Center in 2013 and took the role of new Artificial intelligence applied technology research center director, aim at Assist China Energy ‘s advancement by deep integration of latest AI technologies to energy business applications. Dr. Guo received “National honorable Expert” award in 2011, served as executive chairman of World CTX conference in 2017, and is Currently the Vice Chairman of China Energy Society and Beijing Energy and Environment Society,
Dr. Guo apllied oil refinning concept into coal conversion science, and developed the novel coal refining technology. Lead the team to completed the national MOST 863 key research project “Critial technology development of Coal Refining to clean fuels”, built a 1800Ton scale demo. Plant to process cofeeding of low rank coal and direct coal liquefaction residual,and tested the technology sucessfully in 2017.open a new route for low rank coal utilization.
Dr. Guo also led the national MOST 863 key research project “ Make coal water slurry for low rank coal pyrolyzed semi-coke, and entrained flow gasification technology development using semi-coke”,developed advanced coal water slurry from semi-coke technology, and first time tested in 600ton/d scale industrial gasification unit in 2016, and proved that semi-coke from low rank coal pyrolysis process are very good feedstock for entrained flow gasification unit.
Dr. Guo lead the team to develop Montan wax extraction from lignite technology, compare to traditional extractant Beneze, the innovative extractant was enivronment friendly, low toxicity and higher extraction efficiency.The new process based on the extractant was developed, and it can handle large range of feedstock and energy efficient. It is categorized as world advanced technoloy by Association of China coal industry.
Dr. Guo took active part in the design of advanced 618MW Duke IGCC power plant in Indiana. He led the design of the 2000Ton/d gasifier and radiant syngas cooler design used in IGCC power plant，carried out the first ever online high temperature measuring test in a commericial gasifier, He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas US.
