Chuanyi WangChuanyi Wang


Dr. Chuanyi Wang, Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and Fellow of International Association of Advanced Materials (FIAAM), is a distinguished professor at Shaanxi University of Science & Technology (SUST), and Academic Dean at School of Environmental Science and Engineering of SUST, China. He acts as the head of Group-Linkage Program of the German Humboldt Foundation from China side, Shaanxi Province’s “Northwest Ecological Environmental Materials and Technology” Innovation and Talent Introduction Base, and Xi’an International Science and Technology Cooperation Base (“Ecological Environmental Materials and Green Low Carbon Technology” International Joint Research Center).

Before moving to SUST in the summer of 2017, Dr. Wang was a distinguished professor of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), serving as Director of Laboratory of Environmental Science and Technology of Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics & Chemistry, CAS, and Head of CAS-SAFEA International Partnership Program for Creative Research Teams as well as Innovation Cross-Team of CAS.

Dr. Wang obtained his Ph.D. degree from CAS with honor in 1998, worked in Germany (Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hannover and Free University Berlin) as an Alexander von Humboldt research fellow from 1999 to 2000, and then worked in USA (Tufts University and Missouri University-Kansas City) as a research fellow or faculty member from 2000 to 2010.

Currently, Dr. Wang holds the appointment of Adjunct Professor at Wuhan University since 2014 and a Visiting Scientist at Tufts from 2009. In addition, he serves in many academic organizations at home and abroad, such as Distinguished Expert for HOME Program of China Association for Science and Technology, executive director of the China Energy Society, deputy director of the New Energy Expert Group of the China Energy Society Expert Committee, member of the Photochemistry Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society, member of the Photocatalysis Professional Committee of the Chinese Photoreceptor Society, associate editor of highly respected international journal Environmental Chemistry Letters, and editorial board member for number of international journals such as Molecular Catalysis, Scientific Reports etc. He also acts as Proposal Reviewer and Panelist for many funding agencies including NSFC, MOST (China), National Science and Technology Award final review, Israel Science Foundation, National Science Centre Poland, National Research and Development Agency (ANID) of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation of Chile, etc.

Dr. Wang has led more than 30 national/international research projects, such as competitive key research projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China and Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is recognized for his research in environmental photocatalysis, environmental materials, surface/interface chemistry, nanomaterials, and pollution controlling.

So far, Dr. Wang has published more than 350 papers in peer reviewed journals with over 18600 citations and an h-index of 76 (Google Scholar), 2 edited books, 6 authored book/chapters, and 64 authorized Chinese and US patents. Owning to his significant contribution to his fields, Dr. Wang has won number of honors and awards, such as Highly Cited Researcher 2023 (Clarivate), Tianshan Award of China, Contribution Award of Overseas Chinese in China etc. He was named in Wikipedia, Who’s Who in the World, and the list of the “World’s Top 2% Scientists” (both “career-long impact” and “single year impact”) released by Stanford University from 2021, 2022 and 2023 (ranked top 100 in Physical Chemistry, ref. https://elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/4 ).
