Cheng YunzhangCheng Yunzhang

Professor Cheng Yunzhang, born in May 1964 in Shanghai, China. He is currently the president of the college of Medical Devices at the Shanghai University of Technology, also a professor and a doctoral supervisor. Prof. Cheng received his Bachelor's degree in Fluid Mechanics from Jiangsu University in 1985, Master's degree in Fluid Mechanics Engineering from Shanghai University of Technology in 1994, and PhD degree in Engineering Thermophysics from Shanghai University of Technology in 2004.

Professor Cheng Yunzhang has carried out scientific research in the field of interventional medical device engineering technology, such as artificial heart, interventional surgical robot, etc., and undertook the construction of Shanghai Interventional Medical Device Engineering Technology Research Center issued by the Science and Technology of Shanghai Municipality, and has achieved outstanding researching fruits, making important contributions to the protection of human life and health. Professor Cheng Yunzhang has been engaged in scientific research, talent training and industrial service in the field of medical device industry for more than 30 years, and has put forward the famous theoretical system of "medical device whole industry chain innovation model" with rich professional experience, and has incubated a number of medical device innovation enterprises, which have been widely recognized by the industry. At the same time, Professor Cheng Yunzhang has served as the chairman of the Medical Device Innovation and Application Branch of the China Association of Medical Equipment, the permanent executive chairman of the Chinese side of the World Medical Device Innovation and Design Conference (DMD), the secretary-general of the Belt and Road Medical Device Innovation and Application Alliance, and the director of the Medical Engineering Cooperation and Innovation Working Committee of the Shanghai Economic Cooperation Organization's national multi-functional economic and trade platform. Professor Cheng Yunzhang is highly moral and academically proficient, and is respected and loved by students, as well as praised and recognized by his peers.

Professor Cheng Yunzhang has put forward important theories and made outstanding contributions to the construction of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular interventional medical devices, medical surgical robots, and medical device industry ecology. In terms of technology, Professor Cheng Yunzhang's team is committed to the design and production process of the axial flow blood pump built into the motor, and has completed the prototype of the blood pump with the smallest infusion volume and flow rate to meet the medical requirements in China. At the same time, the team is developing various types of medical surgical robots, such as intubation robots, vascular interventional surgery robots, anesthesia robots, etc., among which good results have been achieved in preoperative planning, intraoperative navigation, force feedback technology, biomechanics and other aspects. Professor Cheng Yunzhang also proposed to build and develop a digital intelligent medical device industry ecosystem, considering clinical needs as the point and the engineering technology research center as the core. By studying all steps and disciplines involved in the whole process and life cycle of medical device innovation, a medical device innovation and development model based on China's national conditions is proposed, and a medical device industry ecosystem is built around universities, hospitals, research institutes, enterprises, regulatory agencies, and government commissions around universities. The innovation model of the whole industry chain of medical devices proposed by the author has provided development consulting reports for the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the Academician Center of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.
