Chen WeiChen Wei


Prof. Chen Wei is currently a full professor in College of Biosystems Engineering and Food Science, Zhejiang University, and serves as director for Institute of Food Bioscience and Technology, Zhejiang University. He has won national talent program, outstanding youth fund of Zhejiang Province, scientific and technological talents with outstanding contributions in Zhejiang Province.

He has long been engaged in the research of nutrition, food science and synthetic biology. He has published more than 140 peer-reviewed papers in international journals with H index of 45, obtained 21 granted national invention patents, and was nominated as “World’s Top 2% Scientists in 2022 and 2023”. His major publications were on international journals, such as Nature Communications, Autophagy, Hepatology, Redox Biology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Bioresource Technology, Free Radical Biology & Medicine, Chemical Communications, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. He won the National Excellent Patent Award, second prize of Zhejiang province natural science award and National Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Innovation Personal Award. He was invited to serve as the co-organizer for symposium of the Annual Meeting of the American Chemical Society (2019-2023), Executive Editor-in-Chief for Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Section Editor-in-Chief for Food Quality and Safety, Editorial board members for Journal of Functional Foods and Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE B.
