Chen DewangChen Dewang

Prof.Chen Dewang, a world-famous expert in artificial intelligence algorithms and intelligent transportation systems, graduated from the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003, and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley in 2009. In 2011, he was promoted to a professor at Beijing Jiaotong University. At present, he is the dean of the School of Transportation, Fujian University of Technology and the leader of the discipline of transportation engineering.

He led and participated in over 40 projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Key, General, and Youth), the 863 Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the Key Project of Basic Business Expenses of the Ministry of Education of China, the Multiplication Plan Sub Project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, with a total project budget of approximately 15 million US dollars. He has published over 200 papers, including over 100 high-level journal papers, 7 academic monographs (including 1 Springer English monograph and 2 popular science monographs), and have obtained over 10 invention patents and over 20 software copyrights.

He has solved core technical challenges such as intelligent positioning, precise parking, and intelligent driving for the Qinghai Tibet Railway, Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, and Beijing Metro. Some of his achievements have been applied in practical engineering and have made certain contributions to the intelligent operation of China's rail transit. He combines deep learning, optimization technology, and fuzzy systems to propose the concept, model, and algorithm of deep optimization fuzzy systems(DOFS). He has developed fuzzy systems initiated by his tutor Prof. Lotfi Zadeh, enriched interpretable artificial intelligence theory, and opened up new directions for the next generation of artificial intelligence.

He has received about 20 scientific research awards and talent programs, including the Second Prize for Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Railways of China (2007), Beijing Science and Technology New Star (2010), Fujian Minjiang Scholar (2014), Zhan Tianyou Railway Youth Award (2015), Fujian Yunsheng Youth Science and Technology Award (2016), Zhong Jiaqing Operations Research Award (2018), and the First Prize for Science and Technology Progress of the Chinese Society of Automation (2019) Second Prize in Natural Science of the Chinese Society of Automation (2020), Class B High Level Talents of Fujian Province (2021), Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (2022), Fujian Innovation Star (2022), and Outstanding Society Worker of the Chinese Society of Automation (2022).

He has a strong influence in the academic community both domestically and internationally, holding over 10 part-time positions in various academic fields, including senior members of IEEE, IEEE Transaction on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Associate Editor, editorial board members of the famous Chinese journal "Automated Chemistry Journal", editorial board members of "Journal of Intelligent Science and Technology", and deputy director of the first Mixed Intelligence Special Committee of the Chinese Society of Automation Deputy Director of the Popularization Work Committee of the Chinese Society of Automation, Deputy Director of the Parallel Control and Management Special Committee of the Chinese Society of Automation, and Deputy Chairman of the Intelligent Computing Branch of the Chinese Operations Research Society.
